The Extended Diploma is an accelerated 1-year course, and BA (Hons) in Tourism and Hospitality Management top-up takes another year to complete.

The objective of the Extended Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management qualification is to enable learners’ development as managers within the tourism and hospitality industry with a lifelong-learning orientation. It enables learners to critically apply contemporary knowledge and theories to manage complex problems. Successful completion of this qualification will equip learners with the specialist skills and technical terminology to develop their management skills and progress to further study or employment.

Qualification structure

The Extended Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management consists of 12 mandatory modules for a total of 240 credits, 2400 hours of Total Qualification Time (TQT), and 1200 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

The qualification is designed to be delivered over two academic years for full-time study but is flexible to accommodate part-time and distance learning. The lectures, tutorials, seminars, and distance online are delivered face-to-face.

Progression

Learners who complete the Extended Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management are eligible for various academic advancement opportunities, such as the OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management. In addition, students can also get direct entry into the final year of the BA (Hons) in Tourism and Hospitality Management program because this qualification has been approved by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).

The institute assesses all units in the Tourism and Hospitality Management Top-up Degree internally, and OTHM verifies them externally. The qualifications are criterion-referenced, meaning they are dependent on meeting all of the learning objectives. To receive a ‘pass’ for a unit, students must show that they have completed all of the learning objectives and met the requirements set out by all assessment criteria. During their studies, our students will work on tourism and hospitality projects. To help with this, King’s will teach students how to promote Tourism and Hospitality ties among relevant sectors, which will be useful for people wishing to start a business. The Assessor determines if the learners have met the assessment criteria effectively.

Entry Requirements

BA (Hons) Tourism and Hospitality Management (Top-Up) full programme:

The learners will undergo the Extended Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management, and enter the final year of the UK university. Applicants must have a high school or equivalent and be 17 years or above.

BA (Hons) Tourism and Hospitality Management (Top-Up) advanced entry:

Candidates must have an HND from the UK or equivalent worth 240 credits, aged 19 or above.

We also give flexible entry to students who want to improve their career prospects. Besides, learners who are over 21 years old with no formal qualifications can join the Extended Diploma if they have relevant work experience.
